And now for something entirely different... a set of complete, new in the box Marchal air horns, most likely fabricated in the 1950's to fit Ferraris, Maseratis, Alfa Romeos, and other exotic automobilies of the period. This remarkably preserved (unrestored) group of components are absolutely perfect, and are supplied with their original factory boxes.
The compressor is finished in light green Hammertone paint with a reflective silver data label which reads, 'Fulgor S.E.V. Marchal 12V Type 438P3 15 A monter verticalement'. There is also a lubrication tag fitted over one of the wiring terminals. It weighs in at a hefty 6.5 pounds and is all metal, measuring 7 1/2 inches in height by 3 1/4 inches in diameter.
The horns themselves are virtually new, with perfect paint and chrome. They even still retain their plastic 'shower cap' protective covers. The large horn measures 12 inches in length and features a black painted interior, while the smaller horn measures 9 inches and has a dark green interior.
The set contains an instruction sheet printed in French, English, German, and Spanish. There are three mounting brackets, a length of clear air tubing, and a quality inspection tag. The compressor box is labeled 'ref.438P Pour Fulgor F34 F35', while the horn box reads, 'Fulgor F34 Chrome ref.520'.
This horn set is almost too nice to mount in a vehicle, and reflects a time when exquisite finishing and metalwork ruled the automobile world.
