In the year 2001, Michael Schumacher would claim his fourth World Championship title in Formula One, driving for the legendary Scuderia Ferrari. Of the season's seventeen races, Schumacher gained nine firsts, five seconds, one fourth, and two DNF's, to clinch both the Driver's and Constructor's championships.
Our very special 1/18 scale tribute to Michael's winning car was produced by Hot Wheels (Mattel), under their Racing series, Michael Schumacher Collection. It is fully licensed by the Ferrari factory, and here's where things get interesting... The British firm Grand Prix Legends commissioned a very limited number of special red, wooden plinths to accompany this model, along with an aluminum plaque, signed by Michael Schumacher himself. The plaque is adhesive-backed, but has not yet been permanently affixed to the plinth. A certificate is included with the plaque explaining why Grand Prix Legends opted for the purchaser to complete assembly. There are a few Hot Wheels Ferrari F2001 pieces available on the open market, but so far, we've never seen another example in this configuration. A must have for the Ferrari, Schumacher, or Hot Wheels fan!
