As the only driver to have won the Indianapolis 500 (four times), the Daytona 500, the 24 Hours of Daytona, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, A.J. Foyt's place in racing history is quite secure. In 1960, Foyt teamed up with car constructor Wally Meskowski to field a machine which took Foyt to his first Sprint Car championship.

This 1/12 scale GMP Creations illustrates his winning car just before its paint scheme was changed for the 1961 season. Measuring in at just over 14 inches, its size permits the incorporation of a wealth of features, from the beautiful Offenhauser dohc inline four, to workable steering and suspension. The cockpit is masterfully done, with a padded seat, bezeled instruments and webbed seat belts. Up front, dual shock absorbers dampen the asymmetrical suspension and even the soft rubber tires have just the right amount of squish as the cars weight bows the sidewall.

Our Bowes Special is serial #0631. It was consigned from a private collection, hence no original box accompanies the model. However, we are including the special display case for this piece which has a naturally finished wood base, and Perspex cover. A lot of model for the money!
