Of all the sportscar races of the Twentieth Century, none possess so much history, glamour, and significance as the Big Three: LeMans, the Targa Florio, and the Mille Miglia. The contesting manufacturers and drivers are a virtual who's-who of motorsport legend. Sadly, only the race at LeMans carries on today, its siblings falling to governmental regulation and tragic loss of life. Fortunately for enthusiasts, the Mille Miglia has been run as a historical recreation since 1977, permitting only cars built between 1927-1957 to participate. The reborn, albeit tamer race enjoys immense popularity, drawing crowds from around the world.

It was just such an enthusiast who purchased our beautiful Mille Miglia overnight bag in the city of Turin, during the 1998 running of the Mille Miglia 'Storica', or 'Historic' race. From there, the bag traveled to the United States, where it remained quietly in storage, unused, until the present.

Our Mille Miglia overnight bag is a masterpiece of the luggage-maker's art, easily on par with offerings from Louis Vuitton and Schedoni. The subtle plaid surfaces of the bag incorporate the Mille Miglia text printed randomly throughout, and each corner and edge is heavily reinforced with thick leather and brass strapping. A brass locking mechanism (key included) secures the lid, along with two brass hold-down clasps. Further security is provided by two leather tie-down straps affixed by brass buckles. The entirety of the leather work is outstanding, where not one stitch is out of place.

Opening the lid reveals an elegant wine-colored interior, where the silk-like fabric is woven with the Mille Miglia 'Arrow' logo and text. There is a large, elasticized pocket on the lid's underside, and two elasticized pockets flank the interior compartment. Twin leather straps prevent clothing from shifting during travel. Dual friction levers keep the lid open for convenience. Every hinge, lock, lever, buckle and rivet on this amazing bag is fabricated from brass, and makes for a stunning presentation.
