In 2001, the noted Italian pen manufacturer Delta released a new series of writing instruments commemorating the Alfa Romeo Giulietta, a diminutive, high-performance sports car from the mid to late 1950s. Here we have a rare, matched set of fountain and rollerball pens, unused, complete with original boxes, papers and refills. Each pen is constructed of brilliant red, turned resin, and is adorned with beautiful .925 sterling silver accents, such as a checkered flag barrel band, Alfa Romeo Milano marque badge, a Giulietta-style door handle clip, and a distinctive Giulietta grille shape on the cap band. The fountain pen is a cartridge/converter type, with an 18k. gold tip which has been platinum plated, which is said to promote smoother writing and ink flow. Nib size is M. Each fine writing instrument is supplied with its outer paper box, inner black felt-covered display box, and Registro Italiano pamphlet carrying the individual edition numbers. These pens are in perfect condition although some of the silver has slightly tarnished. This can easily be polished away, but we have chosen not to disturb the original patina. This magnificent set is no longer in production.
