Aeromobilia tends to concentrate on offering mid-size to large scale models to clients who are searching for rare and unusual additions to their collections. Occasionally, a noteworthy piece in a smaller scale crosses our desk; such is the case with our ultra-rare set of Nathan's Studio 1:43 limited edition sports and Formula One racers.
In the early 1990's Nathan's Studio (aka Nathan Beehl, noted British model constructor and Ferrari author) decided to produce a very limited edition (only fifty examples of each worldwide) of significant sports-racing and grand prix cars from the 1950's-'60's. Every model was to be hand-built, based on either a Starter or Provence Moulage kit. Additional details were added to each piece, and perhaps most significantly, all models included a driver's hand-signed plaque and an accompanying historical data plaque.
The Ferrari 250 SWB depicts the 1961 Goodwood Tourist Trophy winner, and is signed by Sir Stirling Moss (1929-), and team owner Rob Walker (1918-2002).
The beautiful Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa is the 1960 LeMans 24 hour race winner, and is signed by driver Paul Frere (1917-2008).
The Jaguar C-Type depicts the 1953 LeMans winner, driven and signed by Tony Rolt (1918-2008) and Duncan Hamilton (1920-1994).
Last but certainly not least is the Maserati 250F which was the 1957 Nurburgring Grand Prix winner, driven and signed by legendary five-times world champion Juan Manuel Fangio (1911-1995).
The two Ferraris and the Jaguar have attractive marque emblems affixed to their bases, while the Maserati is accompanied by a very nice scale figure of Fangio himself. Again, the Ferraris and the Jaguar are all the same edition number (42/50), while the 250F is un-numbered, but limited to 50 copies.
These fascinating and very rare sets seldom appear on the secondary market, especially in such remarkable condition. The original outer boxes for this set are unfortunately unavailable. This group of fine miniatures will appeal to not only the serious model collector, but to the racing history enthusiast as well. Very affordably priced.
