Shaken, not stirred... need we say more? The Aston Martin DB5 is a '60s icon, elevated not only because of its close association with the world's greatest secret agent, but because of its stellar design and superb performance.
AutoArt has done a creditable job of rendering the DB5 as a 1:18 diecast, with excellent paintwork and details, and of course, everything opens. Tiny photo etch 'Aston' and 'Superleggera' badges grace the hood and boot, while a 'DB5' badge appears just below the front fender vents. The trunk area is 'carpeted' with light tan flocking, which nicely matches the car's interior. Seat detail is crisp and the instrument cluster, shift lever, and pedal set are very well done.
Popping open the hood reveals the 4 litre straight six, equipped with three SU carbs. This is a largely plastic molded affair, and honestly, we feel that the car is shown to best advantage buttoned up. Having said that, the grille, headlights, turn indicators and taillights are extremely well done, and really enhance the model's appeal.
The DB5 is supplied with its original factory display base and outer box. A very cool model for a great price!
