Tutima, the noted German watch manufacturer, has a long and complex history. During WWII, they produced a series of 30,000 high quality manual wind flight chronographs for the Luftwaffe. Sadly, during the last days of the war, Russian planes bombed the town of Glashutte, obliterating the Tutima works.

Decades of struggle followed, with the invasion of cheap Asian quartz watches and East German government bureaucracy bringing the company to the brink of disaster many times. In the early 1980's, Tutima received a contract to  build a mechanical chronograph for the German Air Force, thereby securing the company's future.

In 1994, Tutima unveiled a modern homage to their 1941 Luftwaffe chrono to great acclaim and demand. It was called the 'Flieger'. Soon, the 'Flieger F2' followed, using a Valjoux 7750 movement with power reserve indicator.

Aeromobilia is most fortunate to have this example of a pristine Flieger F2, with silver-white pearlized face and black crocodile double-deployment clasp. The three chronograph sub dials have guilloche faces, and the hands, numerals, and indicators are a gorgeous blued steel. The coin-edge bezel is omnidirectional with a red indicator mark. The date window sits at 3 O'clock with the Tutima logo above and Tutima script below. The power reserve scale resides to the immediate left. The hour and minute hands are Super Luminova filled, with luminous dots applied at each five minute position.

The watch face is protected by a domed sapphire crystal and the case measures 38 millimeters in diameter. A sapphire observation crystal reveals the watch engine and damaskeened weighted rotor. The watch features a screw-down crown and is water resistant to 100 meters.

This gorgeous homage to the 1941 Luftwaffe chronograph is in absolutely mint condition and the case back has never been opened. It is in perfect running condition and is supplied with all factory boxes and papers. It is nearly impossible to find an F2 Flieger in this spectacular condition anywhere today!
